Tips to Manage Your Common Pregnancy Symptoms

Nausea and vomiting are very common symptoms in the first stage of pregnancy. And this is due to the many types of hormonal changes that occur in the body of a pregnant woman. Nausea and vomiting usually settle by 16 to 20 weeks of pregnancy, but in some cases, they can persist for longer. Irritability, constipation, tiredness, dizziness, back pain and heartburn are amongst the other early signs of pregnancy. These symptoms don't harm your baby, but they cause a lot of mood swings and discomfort for a pregnant mom and have a great impact on her routine. All of these can be eased with a positive environment at home, supportive family members, and by making small changes in daily eating habits and lifestyle. Some tips to manage common pregnancy symptoms are given below:

1.    Get plenty of rest. Nausea increases with excessive fatigue.

2.    If you feel nauseous as soon as you wake up in the morning, get out of bed slowly.

3.    Eat biscuits or dry toast before getting up from bed in the morning. Try not to get up from bed on an empty stomach.

4.    Consume small meals at regular intervals. Eat a diet that provides you with all kinds of nutrients. Increase the amount of carbohydrates in your diet and reduce your fat consumption.

5.    Never stop eating. Many times, due to nausea andvomiting, many women stop eating completely. This can cause weakness and can harm the baby. So, even if you're feeling nauseous and uncomfortable, don't stop eating.

6.    Don't eat too much sweet and spicy food.

7.    Keep yourself hydrated. You can also include fruit juices and vegetable soups in your diet. This can help you deal with constipation.

8.    Stay away from smells that make you vomit or panic.

9.    Ask for help whenever you feel it.

10.  Wear loose and comfortable clothing.

11.  Consume ginger. Consumption of ginger also provides relief from the problems of nausea and vomiting.

12.  Perform prenatal yoga and exercises to boost your energy level. This also helps with dealing with constipation, tiredness, and other discomforts of pregnancy.

13.  Perform pranayama and meditation for mental health and peace.

Some women complain of excessive vomiting during pregnancy, which is medically called hyperemesis gravidarum. You must visit your doctor if you have symptoms like extremely dark urine, a fever that exceeds 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit, vomiting with blood, or stomach pain.

Vaginal bleeding, white vaginal discharge, and severe abdominal pain are signs of danger to the mother and child. In such cases, you should promptly consult your doctor.
